I am Nabeela Irfan, and I want to start this article with complete honesty.
Like many professionals, I faced a situation where my LinkedIn account was restricted multiple times. Each time it happened, I felt panic, stress, and uncertainty. I kept asking myself the same question that so many others search on Google:
👉 “Why does LinkedIn keep restricting my account?”
Even top creators on LinkedIn don’t always explain the exact reason. The truth is, unless you have personally experienced restriction, you can’t really understand the frustration.
In this blog, I’ll share not only my own experience but also the real reasons why LinkedIn accounts get restricted repeatedly—and most importantly, what you can do to fix and prevent it.
1. The Panic of LinkedIn Restrictions
Imagine waking up one morning, logging into your profile, and suddenly seeing a message:
> “Your account has been temporarily restricted.”
For me, this didn’t happen just once—it happened multiple times. Each time I felt like my professional identity was under attack. I had worked hard to build my network, engage with clients, and create content. But with one restriction, all of that seemed to disappear overnight.
This panic is real. And unless someone has gone through it, they cannot feel the depth of it.
2. Why Does LinkedIn Restrict Accounts?
Now, let’s break down the possible reasons LinkedIn restricts accounts again and again.
a) Too Many Connection Requests
If you send a lot of connection requests in a short period, especially to people who don’t know you, LinkedIn sees this as spam.
b) Low Acceptance Rate
When too many people click “I don’t know this person” on your request, LinkedIn considers your activity suspicious.
c) Using Automation Tools
Some people use bots or third-party software to grow faster. LinkedIn’s algorithm is very strict against this. Even if you didn’t use tools, sometimes logging in from unusual devices looks like automation.
d) Posting or Messaging in Bulk
Sending the same message to dozens of people or posting repeated promotional content can also cause restriction.
e) Suspicious Login Activity
If you log in from different countries, VPNs, or multiple devices, LinkedIn security may flag it.
3. Why Don’t Big Creators Talk About This?
One question I always had was:
“If this happens to so many people, why don’t top creators explain it clearly?”
The answer is simple: most of them either never faced restriction, or they don’t want to admit it. That’s why only those who have actually been restricted can give you the real picture.
And here is the reality: LinkedIn’s rules are not always transparent. Sometimes, even when you’re doing everything right, your account may still get flagged.
4. What To Do If Your Account Gets Restricted?
When my account was restricted, I learned a few lessons that can help anyone in this situation.
✅ Stay Calm: Don’t panic (though I know it’s hard). Restrictions are often temporary.
✅ Appeal to LinkedIn: Use the support option to request a review. Be polite and professional.
✅ Verify Your Identity: Sometimes LinkedIn asks for ID or email verification—complete it quickly.
✅ Reduce Aggressive Activity: Stop sending too many requests or messages for a while.
✅ Focus on Content: Post valuable, original content instead of just networking aggressively.
5. How to Avoid Future Restrictions
After going through restrictions multiple times, I started following these golden rules:
Limit connection requests to 20–30 per day.
Avoid sending the same copy-paste messages.
Never use automation tools or bots.
Build genuine engagement—comment thoughtfully, reply naturally.
Always keep your profile complete and updated.
By following these rules, my chances of restriction reduced a lot.
6. Final Thoughts
If your LinkedIn account has ever been restricted, I understand your panic—I’ve been there too. But remember, you’re not alone. Thousands of professionals face this every day, and the only way forward is to learn the rules and play smart.
The truth is:
Restrictions are not always your fault.
Sometimes algorithms are overly sensitive.
But with patience and consistent effort, you can rebuild your account and reputation.
So the next time you ask yourself, “Why is LinkedIn restricting my account again and again?”—know that there are clear reasons, and there are also clear solutions.
